You could try crossposting this to the aus.legal group.

The OP was not threatened with being beaten up because he asked for a
refund. There was apparently an exchange of pleasantries at some point,
that's all. And the facts are being put by one side only.

Forget it. It's not worth the trouble trying to take it further.

If there are having difficulties getting a refund, go to the Small Claims
    Tribunal.

Bloody hell, you can't get a refund after owning something for 6 months!

People who tried to cause a scene and were doing so to get something they
weren't entitled to were usually invited to speak to the relative government
organisation that handles such matters, which we would offer to ring for
them right there and then.or if they were particularly disruptive we would
offer to have them removed by the police.

We were heavily biased towards the consumer which means that we would often
do a refund or resolve a warranty issue outside of our legal obligation to
do so. Even then ****wits like barry would come to the store with the sole
intent to cause as much disruption as possible to obtain something they were
    not entitled to.

We never threatened a customer in any way, but you would be shown the door
with an offer of a police escort if required.

Work in retail for a while and you soon learn that there are a lot of pig
ignorant and abusive ****s of customers out there.

If you mean physically by your staff, then be prepared to be sued.
Only the police can physically remove someone from a store.

Depends on the product (expectations of a reasonable life), but as far
as it concerns computers I tend to agree with you.

Agree away, but what does the law actually say about refunds?

    No need.

    Fraid not.

The store owner after requesting that the arsehole leave its
store, and having the arsehole refuse to comply with that request.

Dont need to, I know the law on that much better than you do thanks.

    You are just plain wrong.
