A new free download to test OS: VMWARE PLAYER

    http://www.vmware.com/download/player/

    VMware Player
    What is VMware Player?
VMware Player is free software that enables PC users to easily run any
virtual machine on a Windows or Linux PC. VMware Player runs virtual
machines created by VMware Workstation, GSX Server or ESX Server and also
supports Microsoft virtual machines and Symantec LiveState Recovery disk
    formats.

no this is a different product. Its not a java virtual machine.
this is a program that will let you start a whole new OS like windows 98
inside of windows XP and see it in a window.
But this is the player only, if you dont have an OS already that is for
    VMWARE,
you can download the full version of VMWARE to create a virtual machine by
installing an OS of your choice. After that you can run it with the player
    alone.

For more info and the trial of vmware go here:

Re: A new free download to test OS: VMWARE PLAYER

    Hi...
VMware Workstation provides a completely virtualized set of hardware to
the guest operating system. VMware virtualizes all devices within the
virtual environment, including the video adapter, network adapter, and hard
disk adapters. It also provides pass-through drivers for USB, serial, and
parallel devices. A running virtual machine can be paused, copied to another
physical computer, and unpaused to resume execution exactly where it left
off. It virtualization software for software developers, software testers
etc.. ....now comming to why would someone like to use it....

For TESTING multiple operating systems in a single pc.
Allows students to expereriment with multiple OS

    and the list goes on.................
