don't know about anti shock - but I was running for the train and my PMP was playing in my backpack and it didn't skip a beat.
I also droped it on the ground. and it switched off straight away. when I switched it on it didn't know what song i was up to. still works

I think the video is pretty good (very watchable) especially connected to your TV. sometimes it seems like it skips some frames. i guess to keep the video in sync with the audio.

Audio isn't as good as my old iriver,
if you switch off the PMP while in the middle of a MP3. the next time you turn it on, the PMP will ask if you want to resume. you say YES but it starts from the begining of the MP3, not where you left it.

    final comment,
cos this player tries to do everything good. It doesn't do anything great.

I did find that playing back some (not all) mp3's, had some severe distortion problems. Some that had been encoded at certain bitrates were very low in volume, yet some were not. Only some not all, and I'm stil trying to figure out why.

Dude, even if you just use it as an external USB harddrive or portable storage device it's still great value. Anyway, it does say in the manual that this unit is not really for people on the move. So a car, jogging etc...is not advisable due to the nature of the files being read from a HDD. Otherwise you will craqsh the HDD and cause bad sectors al over it. You can get around this problem by installing an SD memory card in it's slot with all the music on it. The HDD on the unit parks it's heads almost after every read. So once parked and reading from the SD slot only should be cool for travelling. This way it reads from the card not the HDD. Aldi has them on special at the moment. A 1 GB SD card for 99 bucks! that's amazing value thesedays for 1 GB.

I purchased one of these Medion PMP units a while back and I'm stoked with it! has played 99% of everything I've thrown at it (I've gone through about 60gb of media so far audio and video) I think a lot of people are having a very high expectation of this unit for the price. You can barely get a cheap USB HDD for this price let alone a comparable PMP for the price of $250. Ok granted, it could have better video recording resolution and it's audio playback does act funny with certain mp3's, but I'm totally happy with the performance in general.

It sure seems like the same unit. One difference I noticed is that the MSI unit has a built in FM radio, the medion doesn't say anything about that. I wonder if the chipset has just not been enabled for radio use?

Some of the sections on Whirlpool you need to be a member for a certain period of time or have posted a minimum number of posts.
Check on their FAQ, but I think it is 50 posts or 6 months, whichever comes first.

And it would be available if it was out there, perhaps there isn't one, unless they have some huge problem with a basic function they are not likely to release one either, it's not that kind of company unfortunately.

Page 43 in my book. Tells me how, but not "where" to get it (if one exists). I'm also wanting a spare battery. Anyone know where you can buy one?

The MSI Megaview566 looks like the same unit + remote and FM radio. http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p...=MEGA_View_566

There are Firmware upgrades for it here, but I would not risk using them with the medion version.

Compatible batteries may be here, but they wont ship to Australia.
