HTML (does this make any sense?)

okay i just finished an exam(which i think went well) for WWW & Internet

now one of the 60 multiple choice questions went sometihng like

how are spaces between tables measured
(not exactly that but it was clase to that)

    the answers were
    a. by pixels
    b. by percentages
    c. both a and b
    d. neither a nor b

this seems normal but then it continued
    e. a but not b
    f. b but not a

now i dont wanna sound stupid, and i have a feeling this is a stupid question, but does anyone think questions e and f are pointless? or is it just me? i mean essentially doesnt a but not b just mean a, and vice versa? or is there something im missing or dont understand?

I would agree entirely, the first 4 answers seem to cover every possibility so I can't see the point of the last 2 answers either.

We must all be dumb, it couldn't possibly be the examiner that's nuts....
    could it?

Well they really should replace a & b with e & f. Because saying its measured in pixels isn't saying it isnt measured in percentages.

I think the examiner is smarter than you give them credit for.
