Lost rego papers - now what?

I was planning on renewing the car rego tomorrow. Even taking the day
off work to do so (plus a multitude of other things) but now I cant
    find the rego papers.

I assume I could get the RTA to send me out a new copy but that'll take
days. Is there any way I could still do it over the counter tomorrow?
Like could they print out a new copy of the rego papers on the spot or
    some other way around it?

This is NSW by the way. Thanks for any replies.

Yep, you just need the rego number and your drivers license. They'll
print a new one on the spot.

Had the same problem myself. Get the green slip and they'll ask to see
your licence and particulars. They'll print one on the spot for you.

No need, just go there with green slip and pink (white?) slip and maybe
D/L. They will issue another on the spot. The label is not valid unless
a payment date is printed on it, so the lost one is not relevant.

Still have not installed the sticker I received over a month ago. Prolly
won't either. The last one was a ***PITA*** to remove.

Gawd, what type are they? Our WA ones peel off in one pristine piece with just
a lift of one corner with a blade. Piece of piss, can even swap them from car
to car. Mind you, the dept says to soak the old one for 20 minutes and then
scrape away. Shite, that went out when they stopped using "transfers".

Be careful. I had done the same because my last sticky one was also
a PITA to remove (the bottom cm is still on there with the new one
over the top) and had to pull into an RBT. I guess the guy checking
rego stickers was feeling generous as he said he was going to book
me for not showing my sticker but ended up letting me go when I pulled
out the valid one from my glovebox. He advised me to apply it at
my earliest convenience or face an $80 fine.

    Cheers,
    Rod.

I think they harden if they're exposed to a lot of sunlight. 30 mins
later I was still struggling. The last few prior came off real easy
if you got the top left corner started and reach the paper part.

This time I got the corner to the cardboard and thought I was home and
hosed... it removed the paper part and left the outline of the sticker.
    :/

    Cheers,
    Rod.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I've got the pink slip and the green
slip so all should be fine tomorrow then.

cardboard? paper? That sure sounds different to the WA ones. Ours are a
plastic material with the images on the non-adhesive side. There's nothing that
could delaminate. the worst that happens to these after a year in the sun is
that you take more "starts" with the blade to get the lot off.

I presume you still have your pink & green slips, you've paid them and
    that it's your car.
If so, no problem. Take in all your paid paperwork plus your licence and
tell them you need to renew your rego but you can't find the renewal.
Once, about 10 years ago, I had to fill out a form. Last time, about 18
months ago, they just sorted it out on the spot. Cheers

Before putting it on next time, put the sticky bit on your car seat a few
times, to collect fluff and stuff. It won't stick as tight to the glass.
For the one that's there, eucalyptus oil gets it all off. Soak it in it.

Working on statistics, prolly not going to be a problem.

You would also have to score the same cop twice.

I ran UK rego plates made in my rego # for a few months
here in Aus without complaint (white/yellow), yes they did
display the correct NSW rego. Got told to take them off,
however the cops gave them the thumbs up) the faded/resprayed
crapulent (compliant) original ones got even greater attention.

While that may be true, I think it was only luck that he didn't
write me up a ticket for it. The chances of another one letting me
    off would be pretty slim.

Why bother? Just walk into a post office with your rego papers and
get a new one because ythe old one "was damaged when the windscreen
    broke".

It's a joke when the apparatics insist on dealing with them as
though they were "certificates" when untraceable (no more serial
numbers as tehre used to be; nor a rego number imprinted/punched)
and they're handed out like discount vouchers in a pedestrian mall.

Not exactly true. If you pay over the internet then you do not get the
    payment date printed on it.
