Does any one know if the older console games going to be reworked with extras or multi player options. I wont be paying for the same old games.

Possibly, the games have been 'enhanced' - but I don't imagine to a highly significant degree, as of now we can only guess: saves? online multiplayer?

    LATEST Wii NEWS

    Launch game numbers
Nintendo has announced in a press release that in North America the Wii will launch with a total of 62 games; 32 original Wii titles and 30 Virtual Console classics. These include hot titles such as Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Red Steel, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz and Rayman Raving Rabbids. The situation isn't as great in Australia, here the Wii will launch with 22-30 original Wii titles and at least 10 Virtual Console classics. Popular titles such as Elebits will not make the aussie launch and cult hit Trauma Centre may never make it here.

    Japan DVD-Enabled
After speculation, it has been confirmed by Nintendo that next year in Japan, Nintendo will be launching an upgraded DVD-Enabled Wii. As of now there are no plans to launch such a product in any other regions

    Address Book
IGN has revealed that the often-criticised 'friend-code' system of the Nintendo DS will not be making it to the Wii. The Wii has instead a more effecient 'Address Book' system in which each console (rather than each game) is assigned a number and all you have to do is enter these to add friends to your address book!

    Internet Connection
The wi-fi for Wii has also been upgraded from the DS, the Wii's wi-fi can run WEP, WPA-PSK (TKIP), WPA-PSK (AES) or WPA2-PSK (AES) security, rather than only WEP.

    New Brawl Addition
The official Super Smash Bros: Brawl website has been updated with the notice that during Nintendo World 2006 they will be announcing a brand new character to the line-up. This announcement could happen anywhere from the 2nd - 12th of November

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you only get Zelda free with the $729 zelda family pack.

They aren't advertising the other offer, because it's promotion finished last week.

$729, bugger! I guess it's a good offer if you want all that stuff...If it was $650 I'd get it, didn't want to go too much over that. Oh well, either way I'll be playing Zelda on the 7th December

Nice. Only 6-7 years late, but hey, the old saying 'better late than never' I suppose.
Expect either a HD-DVD or bluray add-on in their 2012 console.

The arcade with the older games is a good idea.

They definitely need Wave Race 64 to be one of them. My first and still the best game for enjoyment on the N64 in its day. (And FIFA98).

But in saying that I'm still not leaning towards owning the console

well, my sister has cancelled the pre-order from myer (she didn't put any $ down, just her name).
Apararently EB has offered her the wii and zelda on release (wii plus a free game of choice). Plus if they get 50 orders they'll have a midnight release. Unfortunately I only have what she's told me to go on.

    Sounds good Linton.

    South Park:

    - Not only is it in one episode, it's a 2-3 episode saga. Apparently Matt and Trey are 'really excited' about the Wii.

Has anyone played the Wii yet? I'm off to Melbourne Central tomorrow (Monday) as they'll have it there. Can't wait. There's a decent write up of Zelda on IGN, it sounds awesome, 70+ hours of Zelda heaven. 1 month and 2 days before we can get stuck into it

I've heard quite a few recounts from people who attended wii parties, mainly positive in all areas, some had a few issues.

Have fun tomoz, also if your playing in bright direct sunlight, though the problem has been minimised, be aware that may be effecting the response.

Quick Wii report. AWESOME!!! I only had a chance to play one game. When I got there they had Wii Tennis, Wii Play (duck hunt), Zelda and Excite Truck. I watched Zelda for a while. It was the E3 Demo with a dungeon and fishing, it looked fantastic, I didn't have a go because either way I'll be getting it on launch I played Excite Truck, it's one of those games which I'd like, but I need the reviews to be really really positive. It was so much fun to play. You held the controller on it's side NES style and turned it left and right to turn. At first it was very sensivitve, but once you got used to it, it was so much more fun that pressing left and right on a d-pad! The game looked pretty polished too, no one is expecting Xbox360 graphics, we've known that all along, but it still looks beautiful!

I couldn't believe how long the sensor bar was, I reckon it's around the 20cm mark, I was expecting it to be over a foot looking at photos. The console itself is very nice indeed, small and sexy

1 month to the day until launch! I can't wait!!!

Yep only 20cm, should fit well into any television settings.

Sounds like you had a great time, at this point I think I'll be getting Super Monkey Ball on launch.

Super Monkey ball is one I'm looking at too, it looks like it would be the perfect game for the controller. I'm waiting to see what IGN have to say, Zelda is a no brainer, but my second choice is between Excite Truck and Super Monkey Ball.

Well Excite Truck isn't out here till jan-march, so you'll have to wait for that one.

On the upside we get 'Donkey Kong Country' on the VC and no other regions do.
