    xbox Telefunken TDV228 player

About 3 months ago I bought one of these machines off Ebay brand new. Having read what reviews I could I thought this would be a great way of getting Divx stuff off my computer and onto CD's or DVD's and watch them on my big Tele. All was well initially, but I find now it has become eratic. Sometimes it wont read the disk and other times for no apparent reason it will freeze, or stop totally or get out of sync with the audio. If I stop and start again it will do it in a different spot so I know its not the disks. Even some bought DVD's refuse to play and then suddenly they do. My only fault is like my other pieces of gear (high def box, DVD player etc), I do not turn it off. Could this be a problem?? Does this player have a software upgrade I can download?? I know my DGTEC HD box needed software upgrading to solve a lot of its initial factory settings problems. Any help would be great and appreciated.

There is no help for the Telejunken unfortunately, it's a lemon, put it back on Ebay and put your money towards a MediaTek based player and kiss your problems goodbye. Sorry there's no good answer for this, better to be honest about it

hmm what a shame, the unit promised so much. I am starting to agree with you that it is a lemon though. I have switched the unit off and unplugged it, maybe that will reset it like the manual suggests. I do however appreciate your honesty.

I have read on these forums that the TDV223 was a better model?? I am not familiar though with the MediaTek based products. More research required I think. Any favourites in these that you can recommend??

There are many MediaTek based units on the market, you will pay a little more for them though, LG, Zensonic, Pioneer, Sony are all using MediaTek these days

thanks - I might look at the Pioneer range as my HD/DVD player is a Pioneer and I am extremely happy with it
