Well like I said, is so justified that it could rationally become a rule?
The government should not be involved in individual peoples travel particulars. Their job is to make sure the trains run on time ( ) and that the streets are safe. Their job is not to woo operah. If the industry (who will recieve millions from operas trip, can't manage to put up the capital to attain her, they don't deserve the income that comes from her trip.
The government gets a paltry subset of the operah trip benefit money. Will the funds spent come back as the same amount of tax dollars that went into the trip? I say probably not. Realizing that the metric for good policy should be that the funds spent go to create enough additional funds to justify the initial investment? Will operah's trip create substantially more tax dollars than what the government spent initially. ATM it's mere speculation that it will. America is a economically shattered nation that doesn't necessarily have an over abundance of people wanting to spend money.
