LOL! What do you expect from a year old $39 dollar DVD player?

I've got a Mediagate $250+ player that does what you're asking .... but I doubt you're going to get those specs in anything under $150

Sometimes the best hardware is cheap, many cheap standalone video players support 48BIT LBA.

Amazing, very impressive! Is it my turn to say I have owned a Modix ($350+), PS3 & possibly the most expensive XBOX (priceless) in the world? Unless I'm giving them away I doubt anyone cares :P

Sorry - didn't realize how thin skinned you were.

Tell me - which $39 DVD player has LBA support?

I think you have missed my point entirely - my intention was not to get into a pissing competition with you (your dad has obviously bought you some nice stuff ) - My point was that I doubt you will find the features you have listed in anything for under $100.

I am more than happy to stand corrected .... perhaps there is a sub $100 LG out there with LBA, but I doubt one with USB2.

    Cheer Up

    Chops,

Samsung DVD-P171 is an a quality example,

    http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/d...XSA&fullspec=F

Under $100, supports USB 2.0 & I'll bet it won't have any trouble with large HDD's

And cheapo NTFS, USB 2.0, HDD $46

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Hdd-player-NT...sid=p1638.m125

I don't think adding USB 2.0 circuitry would be much (if at all) more expensive than 1.1 so in most cases it would be a matter of what the chips are capable of, NTFS requires more memory & seems to be more difficult to implement but if one cheapo (example above) can do it the others should be able to, too.

OK - looks like a good player, but a long way from the $39 tevion.

For that sort of money I'd also be looking for HDMI and upscaling (like the LG) which the Samsung does not appear to do.

It all depends on what you want to do with it, and by the looks of it you want the Tevion to do something it is not priced, designed, or intended to do.

What do you expect for $39 LOL!

Sounds reasonable doesn't it, unfortunately even people that buy $40 DVD players expect perfection
