So does this other one have both Divx and USB? If so do you know what the model number may be?

    Thanks

They don't always have them though, the stock just comes and goes, best to check what they actually have available

Oh my local Aldi has about 15 of the 1020 models. It doesn't mention divx or usb on the box. It does mention every other format though.

If it doesn't mention it then there's not much chance it has it

But I read somewhere that a lot of players like this one don't actually advertise their divx capabilities.

And surely there is only one 1020 Model? If other people already own a 1020 model and it plays divx then surely this one must?

    Cheers

Not familiar with the model numbers, ALDI models normally list whatever it is capable of, may have been an oversight though if they haven't listed it and it is supported

Oh well it's only $39. Chops on Page 1 says it plays Divx so I'll go with that.

Thanks for your help jok11n. Have a good night.

    Cheers

If Chops has confirmed it then I would have no reason to question it, Chops has been playing with DivX players for quite a while and would be well aware of what to look for

    Hi Guys,

Yes the Tevion 1020 plays divx ... but it says Mpeg4 on the box and it has no USB (I think technically it plays dixv but is not certified ...xvid and mpeg 4 play fine)

The Tevion TDVD08 has USB1 and Mpeg4 (same as above).

I have both, one in my office and the other in my bedroom ... I think the 1020 has a slightly better build quality and looks better IMHO.

I am not sure how well they will last as a primary Divx/DVD player, but they have both worked well for the little use I have for them, about an hour/week each.

I hpe this clears it up a bit.

    Cheers

Yep the USB Mpeg4 (to be technically correct) is a TDVD08 ... it plays most Xvid and Divx file I have thrown at it. It doesn't like Hi-Res files, but neither does the LG 21P I have either.

Bought a 1020 from aldi this week for a friend as a birthday present. the one i picked up listed nothing about divx or any mention of mpeg4 anywhere on the box.. but as it was the same model number as everyone was talking about I picked it up anyway

Just to be sure I quickly took it out of box popped a divx disc with a few episodes on.. and it played them fine.

perhaps the new 1020's just dont have that listing on the box anymore?

Hmmm... Interesting, I wasn't aware of another bunch of them hitting the stores - I wonder if the dropping of the Mpeg4 on the box is a liciencing issue?

It's no problem to put MPEG4 on the box, DivX is another matter though

Hmmm ... in that case it *may* suggest that the machine has troubles playing some Mpeg4 files.

IIRC Mpeg4 files created in Nero don't work (but they also don't work in a lot of players) ... perhaps too many Joe Publics complained and they decided it was easier to drop the claim than defend it.

    Just a thought.

    Tdvd08

The TDVD08 doesn't say anywhere (manual/box/unit) whether the USB port is 1 or 2 so people can only be assuming.

I would be interested to know if the unit can handle NTFS. I have a 750GB HDD but no enclosure so ATM I can't check.

    Tdvd08

    - NTFS Not Supported
    - 48BIT LBA Not Supported (>137 HDD)

    Bummer. Pretty sucky player :P

On the plus side, although I suspect it uses USB is 1.1 (judging from the load time) it plays "DivX" without losing synchronization & FF/RW work perfectly too.
