    used furniture

    I have furniture I would like to get rid of. If I dump it on the side of
    the road, will the scavengers come and take it quite quickly?

    Have you tried 'freecycle'

    People will come and collect it

    You should put your stuff on your local www.freecycle.org/

    that way it gets re-used, instead of going to landfil..
