sorry to kick up a coffin here, but i swear there was a "Best Broadband Deals" thread around here (unsuccessful in finding it)

Anyway, trying to convince the household I live in that Optus bundle with cable broadband and homephone is not the best way to go. Came across this kinda handy tool:
    http://broadband.smh.com.au/Broadband

iinet seem to be pouring in the dough to advertise when they clearly are more expensive than most.
this plan appears to be ridiculously infront of the field, and im not sure why:

i remember jokiin mentioning his amazing broadband plan...

AAPT offer un-metered (truly un-metered) ADSL2+ for $100. The catch being that you have to be able to connect to a AAPT enabled DSLAM.

yeah with a lot of offers out there you really need to see what your exchange will support before deciding, I'm on Optus infrastructure so my options are limited to anything Optus or Telstra based, that said I'm very happy with the deal I get, the AAPT would be more than I need and much higher spend, could suit some though if you were a rampant pirate

There's no FTTP/FTTH (to the Premises/Home) NBN in this area, just FTTN (to the Node) - 2 new such Nodes have been installed on some street corners nearby over the past year or so.
The closest one is ~400m footpath distance away (I got an SQ line test a while back measuring the distance from our residence of copper phone cable to the nearest pillar = 423m).

Up until Mar 2016, have just had ADSL home internet (not ADSL2+, apparently not available unless Telstra freed up some ports or something) - & the ADSL was reliable and worked OK for most of our needs.

Now have churned to TPG NBN 25/5 FTTN VDSL (as well as phone services through them), and I gotta say the whole changeover process as well as the service thus far has been very, very good.

I consistently get good speedtest results thus:

Including with the various wireless devices connecting to our Wifi via the default new Wireless Modem Router unit TPG sent out, a Huawei HG658.

We have a lot more internet (& mobile phone) data per month , much faster home internet, more landline phone call value included etc. and are paying ~$10-$20 per month less, overall than previously.

The VoIP landline phone line quality is often sketchy/crackly, & pretty poor, as the only real downside.
Other than that, very pleased with the change to NBN in our case.
