    Writing for a weekly e-column

    Heh

I got a new gig. I write a weekly film review column for an ezine aimed at the Self-Help market. It's fun - I got to rave about Angels & Demons, State of Play, The Baader-Meinhoff Complex (brilliant German terrorist film - the first terrorist film to emerge since I just completed a book about the subject - being edited now and coming out next year by the publishers of my Serial Killer Film book). There's a new column every Monday. I have editorial control - one rule: no porn. Just as I got the column, I got contacted by Curtin University - they want me to contribute an essay (on sex murder as a set piece) to their new anthology on Serial Killer films. Coooool.

It's taken years since divorce but finally things are going well for me. In love, writing 15,000 wds a month under contract (about an honours thesis every month ). So - two lines from the movies: a kiss to anyone (well, anyone female) who can identify both -

    1) "Made it Ma, Top of the World!"
and 2) "I'm the King of the World Woo-Hoo"

Sounds like homer simpson to me.
It's not an optical illusion. It just looks like one.

Second one is indeed Titanic. First one is from the 1940s film noir gangster film White Heat, spoken by James Cagney (right before he gets shot - couldn't have gangsters live back then).
