    Karaoke Setup

I want to set up a Karaoke system I don't mind if it's set up from different bits and pieces - If I use my laptop screen what else do I need? If getting one of those sets would be easier then what is the best brand you can get in Australia and an easy one to use?

I want to set it up for a family get together at Christmas. If anyone has one, or has the knowledge, please reply, as any help will be appreciated. Cheers

Also my nephew has used the cd-g playing programs such as Siglos Karaoke Player/Recorder. He said that with adapters, you could plug a tv into a laptop and play the cd-g files from the laptop. The microphone is apparently the main issue, he's not sure about the best way to do it. We'd also use computer speakers, some of those hd logitech ones.

    Thanks for the reply

Well, that is my question, what is the best way to go? Use my DVD but it doesn't have plugins for microphones, so then I would have to buy the extra box for Karaoke etc. God its a maze. So that is why I want someone who knows about it to give me some help.

    Thanks Leroy

It seems like if there were disks that had the karaoke music, and I'm not sure if that's how it works... but if so, then you could just look into the cheapest way to get a microphone going, and perhaps there's a solution to use the auxilory jacks on your stereo? Just a suggestion as to something to look into.

When I played guitar, some of the stereos had enough power that you could plug into them and it would be enough if you couldn't afford an amp. They don't really make them like that anymore though.
