4PDA2+ shuts down during driver installation

Prime95 runs for hours on this thing but the machine shuts down if I
try to install the chipset drivers from the Epox crdom it shuts down.
Eventually I was able to install the drivers but I did nothing to
    effect change.

Shut down is preceeded by a soft beep to which there are no references
in the manual, unless I missed it.

I hope this isn't the beginning of a flood of questions to the group
but I've never seen anything like it.
