    Drive array question

I know this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find a solid
solution to this. What is the optimal setup on an IDE array? I have
two 40GB hard drives, one CD/DVD burner and one CD-ROM unit. What is
the best way to set these up? I don't have to have the CD-ROM unit
installed as I don't plan on any direct copying.

I know the boot drive goes as master on the Primary, but I'm a little
confused on where to place the other 3 units.

    Running Windows 98.

    Thank you!

It's best to put your optical drives (CD drives) on the secondary
channel, with the slave and master up to your choosing. I've had issues
with harddrives and optical drives on the same channel, so just bit ethe
bullet and install the extra IDE cable :X

OK, then you're saying that the two hard drives should be on the same
    primary channel, slave and master?

    Re: Drive array question

Ideally you should have the two harddrives on IDE channel one, and the two
optical drives on ide channel two. This method prevents a slower optical
drive's data transfer rate from slowing down one of your harddrives.
