Last night I got through Clive Barker's Director's Cut of Lord of Illusions. Clive Barker seems to have an obsession with the resurrection myth, and despite the interest in seeing another variation on that, overall I prefer his work on Hellraiser.

I taped Only You last night and watched it today, I used to love the movie but maybe I've seen it to many times or something but not as great to me as it used to be.

I just watched Return of the king and i thought it was a technically brilliant film and a throughly satisfieing conclusion to the trillogy. There is alot of ground to cover before you get to the final emotional punch but for the most part it keeps you entertained for most of the journey.I think the battle scenes where a real step up from two towers at times leaving me awestruck with the amount of seamless action that was realised on screen. The scenes with gollum/smeagol where also a highlight,i dont know if they give an academy award for outstanding cgi character but it certainly disserves some sort of recognition.
Overall i must say it didn't hit me with as much emotional impact as some of the other movies i have seen this year.Thats not to say they havn't delivered the goods here,it's just that i have seen some amazing and powerful movies this year that really hit like a sledge hammer.

Watched A.I last night, absolutly fantastic this movie, 2nd time Ive seen it and it just gets better. This is a bigggggg weepie for me, I always bawl my eyes out at this, and HJO is excellent in his role as a Mecca. I never wanted to watch this movie and finally did, thinking I would hate it, boy was I wrong a real gem.

Today watche Corrina Corrina with Whoopie Goldberg and Ray Liotta another great movie, just the right humour, not too much smaltz, great acting from all.

The question is should it have ended when he finds the blue fairy? Not sure about that myself but it seemed so poetic and beautiful.
Must watch this again sometime but i sold off my r4 copy to buy the r1 dts and still havn't got round to buying it yet .
Steven is so great getting child actors to deliver great performances,i still recon christian bale's performance in Empire of the sun is one of the greatest i've ever seen.

No I don't think it should have ended at the blue fairy, I love the last half hour, I know there is a debate about where it should have ended but I love it excatly how it is. I think it would have been so depressing (not that it wasn't sad anyway in the end) but would have been if it had ended at the blue fairy.

Hmmnn just checking,i sometimes think hollywood avoids sad endings at all cost because they think the audience wont accept ending on a downer.Directors from other movie cultures seem more prepared to take a risk on this, takashi kitano(Hana-bi) is one that springs to mind.AI does seem to be one of those movies that has copped some savage negative reviews from some people.Whilst it's not without flaws i still think it explores some of the most interesting si fi ideas since Blade runner

    Found it........

    Spoiler! highlight to see
Yeah but the ending that happened in the movie was still bloody sad!!! It wasn't a happy one, but it showed that he strived for his wish/dream and although it didn't come true (he didn't become a real boy) he did end up hearing that she loved him, and he ended up being unique to the Aliens.

Spoiler Alert!!!!!! Do not read below if you havent seen A.I. wheres the bloody spoiler button????
I was wondering how to do the spoiler thing since the forum change myself,i realise there must still be a way to do it somehow .

It seems like the mother/son storyline in AI really struck a cord with you houndsy and got to you emotionally.
I myself feel the same way about the farther/son relationship in October sky (Chris cooper/jake gyllenhal),it really gets me in the end.

As someone who grew up in the racing industry Seabiscuit gets to me to.Never have i seen battlers from the industry portrayed so realisticly in a movie. You really get a feel for the incredible thrill it is to involved with an animal that performs at the highest level and how it can change your life.

Back on topic i watched Rivers edge last night.Wow what a nasty little piece of work it is,this movie still holds up today and definetaly hasn't lost it's edge.

i watched Taxi Driver and Return of The King today.

taxi driver wasnt too bad, man i couldnt beleive how young The Robster looked, and ROTK was pretty decent.

    also got some other news.

Nat Portman has agreed to the followup to Leon the Professional

    -- snip --

"And now Natalie has confirmed the long-awaited sequel is ready to roll, and she can't wait to be involved - despite needing a break following years working on the Star Wars trilogy. She says, "The script's really great, and worth delaying a vacation for." "

    Here is an interesting tidbit.
The Professional remake with Jet li
    http://www.filmrot.com
Ever since the original movie LEON (aka: THE PROFESSIONAL) debuted, rumours have circulated concerning a martial arts remake with Jet Li in the title role, sequel gossip, Matilda spin-offs, etc, etc. Recent news, however, reveals that the former could very well be in development. All I can say is that Jet Li is pushing for it and if he gets his way, the film will be set in Hong Kong and Luc Besson will handle the re-writes
