Seven/Prime and its Contempt for Sports Viewers

While listening to the news bulletin on the car radio I heard that the Clipsal
500 V8 race was on today.

So, when I got home I flicked on the box to see that Prime (a rural Seven
affiliate) was showing the V8s on its SD channel.

The blokey 7Mate wasn't showing it.

I find this quite extraordinary. Why have HD channels if they aren't going to
maximise the benefits for the viewers? The V8s is a premium product for the
Seven Network. So why waste it on SD?

And the picture quality is quite ordinary, too.

Because with the bandwidth constraints of running 4 channels, HD is now unsuitable for fast motion sports.

Four channels? We see 3 (Prime, Mate and 7 Two).

What are these constraints anyway, and why do they limit HD?

Certainly, OneHD (or One Gippsland as I know it) has no problems when watching
the F1. Hopefully MotoGP will be a lot better than last year.
