    Good old 10!

    Perth viewers shafted again!
We've gone back to the old days - F1 race on Sunday night shown at 9.30 pm,
which is great seeing the race starts at 8.00 pm Perth time!
The 9.30 is for Eastern states time viewing.
And what has One got on when it should be showing F1 live in HD? - absolute
    rubbish!

We're being shafted in all areas. OneHD is going to waste. Not only to the
****ers cut short telecasts they insult and offend us with standard def
    broadcasts of premier events.

Seven is the worst. It shows rubbish on its HD channel 7Mate when it could be
    showing the footy in HD.

I switch over to Fox Footy HD to watch it. And the picture quality is barely any
better because of the shite picture from the originating broadcaster in the
    first place.

Then, on Saturday night I watch a Fox Footy originated match and the picture
    clarity is MUCH better.

The V8s look pretty ordinary, too, even on 7Mate when they occasionally show it
    there.

MotoGP on Ten looked pretty good last year when it was on OneHD. But this year
    on Ten it looks ordinary.

I should've kept my Panasonic 42" SD plasma with its analog tuner and simply
connected my SD Topfield PVR to it.

The only benefit that I am getting from my 50" full HD super duper spec'ed
Panasonic plasma (bought 6 mths ago) is the occasional blu-ray movie that we
    watch on it.

Some of Foxtel/AustarHD content doesn't look too bad, but often when I switch
between the SD and HD channels to compare I find it difficult to see any
    improvement.

Years ago in these forums that is Usenet we used to shitcan the Amercian TV
system. NTSC was called "Never The Same Color due to its apparently low quality.
However, when I was there and watching a prime time show in HD, it was stunning.
I could not believe that we, under the supposedly superior PAL system were
getting the short end of the stick.

The FTA and even pay TV networks deserve all that they get as people shift to
alternative means of watching television and other media.

The Americans have turned off the NTSC analog broadcasts. They now use 'ATSC' digital, which is completely different. Our DVB-T system should be as good as theirs, although theirs is carried by cable. You should be comparing Foxtel HD with their cable HD to really be comparing apples. Their OTA digital tv is similar to ours in most aspects.

Well that's one possible acronym. At least with digital it is actually true..
