    TV taking over the football

TELEVISION has hijacked our beloved game, Herald Sun readers say.

More than three-quarters of respondents to the Herald Sun Issues of 2003
survey said television had too much influence on the scheduling of football
    matches.
More men than women thought TV had taken over the footy.

But the state is still split over whether there is too much football on
    television.

Half of Victorians think the coverage they get on Channel 9, Network 10 and
pay-TV channel Fox sports is good.

But 49.5 per cent of the state said there was too much footy on TV.

More females (57 per cent) than males (42.5 per cent) had had enough of
    football on the box.

But country Victorians, many of whom are unable to make it to matches,
thought there should be more games shown on TV.

In other findings, Victorians are loathe to see the Grand Final moved
interstate if two out-of-town teams make it to the big game.......

On cable TV they have a weather channel - 24 hours of weather. We had
something like that where I grew up. We called it a window.

99.5% of all men say Woman watch too many sopa opera's. It's interesting the
other 0.5% are either gay or lonely geeks whom are addicted to porn.

a bit academic given the contract goes to about 2035 for GF at the MCG

and unless it is Ad v PA or WC v Fr I can't see as how any of the IState sides
would want the GF anywhere else but at the MCG either

That's only to be expected as about half the Vic population don't like
football. And that's OK - there's plenty of other things for them to
    watch.

I can't wait for Foxtel to go digital. It'll be great seeing the
footy in widescreen like 9 and 10 do it - but without all the
    commercials!!

I reckon Foxtel does a great job. And I don't think it needs a second
    channel.

I just wish they'd follow Ten's lead and give us "the five minute
warning" rather than leaving the stupid clock on the screen till the
    final siren.

It's a shame more radio stations aren't allowed to cover the footy.

They already do (widescreen) and yes I agree re: the clock (and that goes
    for ch9 too!)

I'm not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why
don't we just take the safety labels off everything and let the problem
    solve itself?
