    Firefox problem

When FF starts it always reloads the tabs from the previous session
despite options/general/startup being set to 'show home page'. I have
checked all the relevant FF help pages, rebooted, etc., but FF will
simply not change the setting. any help please?

I am running V24.0 and is working OK.
checked options/general/startup being set to 'show home page' and this is how I am running it.

It seems to be a bug. a lot of ppl are posting the same prob, and I'm
still investigating. I see ppl have fixed it by creating a new profile
however, but I'm looking at editing the config file at present.

Thanks. This problem as led me on a merry chase, in between doing other
things, but I found the answer here:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved under "User.js file
locks certain preferences". I had a user.js file and it was overriding
the profile.js file. I checked all entries and it seems to have been
created by Zone Alarm which I no longer have installed, so I safely
deleted it. The offending entry was in the last line:
    user_pref("browser.sessionstore.resume_session_onc e", true); Although I
had set this to 'false' in the FF config file, this entry was overriding
    that.

This sounds more like firefox's feature that preserves the previous tabs,
when closed al at once(when 'remember history' is selected in Privacy tab).
If you don't want that select 'Never remember history'.

I hope I understood your 'problem' correctly.

You can always save the bookmarks, note down any add-ons and unintall
firefox. Then delete the firefox folder in
    C:docs and settings/applications data/mozilla
Then reinstall firefox and restore your add-ons and bookmarks. Lot less
fiddly than many other analyzing solutions.
