Total Lunar Eclipse Wed Evening 8th Oct 2014

Total Lunar Eclipse Wed Evening 8th Oct 2014

"A blood red moon will emblazon Australian skies on Wednesday night, during a rare total lunar eclipse.

Those on the east coast (of Australia) will have the best views, being able to watch the Moon's entire transformation throughout the eclipse.

The event will begin at 8:15pm AEDT, with the visible effects lasting for three hours and 20 minutes.
The Moon will appear completely red during the phase of the total eclipse between 9:25pm and 10.25pm AEDT."

Unfortunately, the weather forecast (for the NSW Hunter coastal region anyway) isn't good:

"Wednesday 8 October - Newcastle area
Summary: Min 16, Max 20, Shower or two.
Cloudy. Scattered showers, easing to isolated showers during the afternoon. Winds southeasterly 15 to 25 km/h tending easterly 15 to 20 km/h in the evening."

    ---

This blood moon (or Hunter's moon) is the second in a series of four, the first taking place in April of this year (of this "Lunar Tetrad").

Hopefully the eastern skies clear and give us a good view!
