I think this is more a reflection on the pissweak minor parties than on the
liberals.
The democrats are pretty much non-existant (what with the deal that was
done on the GST plus the internal squabling not to mention the fact that
its impossible to tell what they stand for anymore)
People didnt vote labor in the senate for the same reasons they didnt vote
labor in the house.
The problem with the greens is that lots of people who may have voted for
the greens didnt because of the preference deal that meant a vote for green
= a vote for labor.

I think the war helped really divide the vote, which is why the democrats
lost out big. People sitting on the fence finally decided to go left or
right, and many people who were already left or right decided to go far left
and far right (Greens and Family First).

They are the least of your worries. It looks like they are one seat
short of a majority. Think of the power Family First will wield if they
win a seat.

Could you ever tell what they stood for?

That has always been the case.

the war really didn't come into the debate at all. but you are right,
with the "centre" democrats gone, people had to choose left or right,
and then those on the outer edges then went extreme left or right.

Yep. 3 more years of Liberals!
Prepare, poor, to pay for the rich. Prepare for hospitals and education to
go down the drain. Prepare to die waiting.
