    Exclamation Discordia

    hey all

i have Discordia's first recording "Living Dead" (Punctured Lung, 1995) and i'm looking for their second recording "Gunwitch" (1996?) on cd only. Discordia were an industrial metal band from melbourne who disbanded around the time of their second recording. you can find their track "Living Dead" on disc one of Triple J's 'The Three Hours of Power' compilation "This Is Twelve" - just so we know we're on the same page!

adelaide is not much fun for hunting down recordings like this... cheers if you are willing to sell it, or can find it somewhere in melbourne (like gaslight or somewhere).

Wanted - Roy Slaven & H.G. Nelson tapes & CDs

    Hi,

I'm looking for any Roy Slaven & H.G. Nelson (of This Sporting Life fame) audio tapes and/or CDs.

The ABC used to release these tapes & CDs as highlights from episodes of This Sporting Life. There are two in particular that I am looking for "Wicket to Wicket" and "Allan Border: Cricket's First Saint", but any others that one may have I would consider. There are probably many that have been released that I don't know about.

I would prefer to have them on CD, but tapes may be OK if they are in good condition.

    Thanks,

    Simon Howson

Miles Davis Cellar Door Sessions 1970 6 CD set

MILES DAVIS - CELLAR DOOR SESSIONS (LIVE) 1970 6 CD SET RARE

    (Columbia / Legacy C6K 93614)

These CDs have been played, but are in excellent condition - no scratches.

Almost 6 hours of music in total, nearly 5 hours previously unreleased. Superb new mixing and re-mastering - superior to the excerpts that appear on the re-mastered version of LIVE-EVIL!

Re-mixed by Jim Anderson, and Mastered by Mark Wilder & Seth Foster at Sony Music Studios, N.Y.C.

For auction, a 6 CD advanced set of Miles Davis' Cellar Door Sessions December (16th - 19th) 1970. Plus a copy of the liner notes with essays written by all living members of the band, and reissue producers Bob Belden and Adam Holzman.

This set of Miles Davis recordings is a must for any fan of jazz, rock, funk and/or fusion, or just plain great live jazz. Especially those who love Miles’ albums Bitches Brew, Tribute to Jack Johnson, Live-Evil, and Dark Magus. The combination of DeJohnette on drums with Henderson on bass gives these recordings a solidly rock foundation that makes it an amazing piece of rock history, let alone its basis in jazz and funk.

    Columbia / Legacy Blurb:

Here is the Miles Davis collection that his legions of American fans have most eagerly awaited. Previously available as a fraction of the music herein, and only initially issued domestically (in edited form on the two-LP set, LIVE-EVIL), The Cellar Door Sessions was recorded December 16 - 19, 1970 at a club in Washington, D.C., where the great trumpeter-bandleader Davis was at the helm of one of his most stimulating groups.

When most people think of Davis' foremost ensembles they instantly hail his first and second great quintets, from the mid 1950s and mid-1960s respectively. But the sextet on the Cellar Door's bandstand is a sheer marvel of kinetic energy. And adding another dimension of excitement to the final two discs is the blazing guitar of John McLaughlin. With the exception of young bassist Henderson, who had made his bones as a Motown session ace and touring with Stevie Wonder, every member of this Davis Band has subsequently proved to be a major figure in Jazz; in his own way, each has placed a highly personal stamp on improvisation during the past 35 years.

In 1969, the year Davis (1926 - 1991) recorded IN A SILENT WAY and BITCHES BREW, each a landmark of early jazz-rock fusion, he told Downbeat's Don DeMichael "I could put together the greatest rock 'n roll band you ever heard." Well here it is, and if the Davis group is not working the same blues-rockin' side of the street as the Rolling Stones, they're breaking on through to another side - the fearless and peerless jazz side of funkmeisters James Brown and Sly Stone, and rock deity Jimi Hendrix. The twenty-eight performances spread out over these six discs running nearly six hours, add up to an inestimable document of the musical cross breeding spearheaded by Miles Davis and his compatible crew.

    PERFORMERS:

MILES DAVIS (Trumpet & Trumpet with Wah Wah)

GARY BARTZ (Soprano & Alto Saxophones)

JOHN MCLAUGHLIN (Electric Guitar [Discs 5 & 6 only])

KEITH JARRETT (Fender Rhodes Electric Piano & Fender Electric Organ)

    MICHAEL HENDERSON (Fender Bass)

    JACK DEJOHNETTE (Drums)

    Old / Vintage Q Magazines

Not sure if this is the place to put this....

Having just retrieved my belongings from storage (I've been o/s for 4 years) I have come to terms with the lack of need for over 100 Q Magazines dating back to 1989.

They are in good to v good condition and feature articles with Springsteen, Prince, Madonna, McCartney, George Michael, Sting, REM, Elvis Costello, Oasis, Queen, Robbie Williams, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Pet Shop Boys......need I go on?

    The mags in question are #30, 33-39, 41, 42, 44, 49, 51, 56, 58-62, 65-156

Am open to offers so that they go to a good home but be aware of postage 'cos all up its about 30 kilos but I would guess around $40..

NB postage could be less if you live in Canberra 'cos I do too, could possibly arrange Sydney drop off next time I'm up or send them back to Adelaide with my folks who are visiting soon....

PM or E-mail me with offers....

    Talking Random CDs... anyone interested?

I've got a small and bizarre collection of CDs that I want to get rid of, mostly original release singles. A lot of them I can't understand why I bought them in the first place, but if you're a collector there might be something that snares your interest... or I can only hope!

Prices on all are negotiable, or maybe we can trade. I'm happy to pay for postage if the selling price is more than the postage price! Or actually, even if you equal the postage price, that's enough. They all just have to go, they're cluttering my shelf!

    Anyway, here goes:

    SINGLES:

    Ash - Envy
Merril Bainbridge - Under the Water
    Lou Bega - Mambo No.5
    Tina Cousins - Pray
Rick Guard - Stop It (I Like It)
    Faith Hill - This Kiss
The Hippos - Wasting My Life
Ricky Martin - Livin' La Vida Loca
Christina Milian - When You Look At Me
Debelah Morgan - Dance With Me
    Motor Ace - Keeping Secrets
The Offspring - Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)
    Silverchair - The Greatest View
    Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag

    SOUNDTRACKS:

Batman Forever - Feat. U2, PJ Harvey, Brandy, Seal, Massive Attack, Mazzy Star, Nick Cave, among others.

The Blair Witch Project (Josh's Blair Witch Mix) - Feat. a whole lot of random artists I've never heard of. Is also an "enhanced CD" which contains "rare and exclusive film footage".

    ALBUMS:

Ace of Base - Happy Nation
Michael Bolton - The One Thing
Billy Joel - An Innocent Man
    The Verve - Urban Hymns
    Yanni - Dare to Dream

PM me if you have the slightest bit of interest and we can work something out.

    Cheers!
