    Burn Direct..any good?

Is Burn Direct a good place to shop for DVD's? Is it reliable and safe? They seem to have lots of hard to find stuff (R1), it looks good! Just want some feedback first before I shop!

Don't do it!!! They are holes of the anus variety .... I ordered a region 1 Stargate set off them and they stuffed around for 6 months (way after the region 4 release) and still hadn't delivered.

They told me they could get the R1 version and wanted more money for the R4 version ..... If I changed my order they would send it strait away .... so I gave them the extra dough (stupid I know) and another month went by.....

In the end they refused to send either the product or my money .... they kept blaming their supplier (bull) .... I had to put a formal complaint into the Queensland Office of Fair Trading to get my money back ..... another 3 months of them denying everything to them ..... and finally they (Office of fair trading) lost it and made a demand on my behalf ..... another month, and the fair trading people are about to impose some sort of penalty (a fine I think) and magically the money turns up in my account!! ..... they "couldn't understand what the whole issue was about" ....

Idiot, ripoff bastards .... I'm pretty sure if what you want isn't in their store they will take you money regardless of whether they think they can obtain the productor not.

My advice is to stay well clear of them..... I would bet that if you ordered GT4 off them you will get it a month after the release date.

OH I Have heard about these guys.

I too have had not so pleasant experiences with this place.

Often when I have tried to order games from them (it was fro my dreamcast at the time) I had expeirences that the minute I placed the order, the price all of a sudden jumped up......sure good thing I never had a credit card at the time.

Good to know it's not just me! .... one winging customer (me) might be an isolated nut, two definatly mean you should stay clear of these guys.

I have always meant to drop into their store one day (when I am in Brisbane) .... Ooops ... I mean drop a briick into thier store.

    Just as a follow up:

I was contacted today by the "Customer Service Supervisor (Online)" of Burn Direct as a result of this thread ..... he assured me that Burn Direct has changed owners (and managment) since my last dealing (end of 2003).

If there has been a genuine change within Burn my earlier comments may no longer be relevent.

As groggypoo has already noted, there are cheaper places to buy from.

    cheers

    Blaxploitation DVD's.

There are no R4 Blaxploitation DVD's that I can find in Australia. I have only found some Shaft DVD's.

Plus, I only shop at Australian shops, and if it's online I always pay offline eg:cheque, etc.

If you only want to buy in Australia the I guess you have to accept a higher price ... you might also want to look at dvdcrave as well?

Burn Direct Should be Closed Down

I have had a shocking experience with Burn Direct they have ripped 49 people off and counting on Ebay and surprise Ebay still lets him trade. So much for Ebay being a Safe Place to trade. He is also one of their esteemed Power Sellers who we are all told to trust!!! Seems he also rips people off on his website and in general business.

Simply do not do business with him.

I have an email for him but don't expect a reply
    ebay@burn.com.au

I have also gone through the process of going through the Dept of Fiar Trading but no luck there. They said I would need to take court proceedings against him.

Best to direct your complaints to the police. If there are enough then they can't ignore it anymore.

Weird how there is no police address but this is what was on the Queensland Police Website.

    internetfraud@bigpond.com

The phone number for them can be found in the white pages.

Oh yes forgot, their Ebay user name is burndirect_brisbane Just read the feedback. Ebay does nothing as he supplies most of the goods. About 1 item in 25 he doesn't deliver.

Any pressure you guys can put on him would be good. this guy should be locked up. If not then ...

Sounds like they are back to their old ways.

Fair Trading Qld did a good job getting my money back - but I was prepared to go to court if needed. They weren't going to proceed with prosecuting them unless I said I would.

It never went that far - Burn caved and paid my money back.

Given what has been said recently, I would advise all to stay well away from them.

    Cheers

    Thanks Chops

At least you got a response from them. They still have my money and 49 other Ebayers to boot and I still have not received a single reply from them. Hell Ebay even suspended my account temporarily because of this hole of the anus. (Liked that quote)

Also for the benefit of anyone that has been ripped off through Ebay. Their User name is
    burndirect_brisbane
Ebay's lawyers can be contacted via

Still no luck getting the DVD I bought off Burn Direct Brisbane or Ebay user burndirect_brisbane on December 4th 2007. Queensland Fair Trading have not been any help. I will need to go to court to get my money back from Burn Direct. Just a nasty bunch of operators. I see another forum when someone suggested throwing a brick through the Burn Direct window. Burn Direct are still trading as burndirect_brisbane on Ebay despite all the problems they are having with him. No wonder Ebay are changing their feedback policy Burn Direct and users like them would be some motivation in them doing that. Can't wait!!

QLD fair trading were pretty good for me.

Make sure you make a claim via ebay and report the transaction.

The change to ebay feedback policy only stops sellers from posting feedback on buyers .... long overdue imho as retaliatory feedback has been a big problem.

Every problem retailer I have ever dealt with has always got double back on them ... Karma does seem to happen in the long run.

    And it goes on

I am sorry this is a very old thread but I laughed when iI read some of Burn Direct's latest feedback on Ebay user burndirect_brisbane The bad feedback said they had abusive staff. Their response was that the guy smashed up their place and the police had to be called.

I wish I was there to cheer him on. I am sooo looking forward to my next trip to Brisbane.

If you work for Burn Direct just to let you know I intend to get my money back one way or another.
