Looking for a new phone

I'm looking for a phone that includes an FM radio, and the ability to play
MP3s from a removable flash card. How wide is the range for phones which can
do this?

Does anybody know of a phone that has a standard 3.5mm headphone socket?

Extra points if the phone can schedule to record from FM onto the memory
card.

cheers,

Fairly wide range. Go look.

Haven't heard of any phone being able to do this ever.

Hell, haven't heard of many home stereos being able to schedule fm
recording.

Re: Looking for a new phone

you may as well just buy an mp3 player for that purpose.

I have a 6230 but gave up in frustration at the poor volume & sound
quality of the radio/mp3 player on it.

So I spent $200 on a excellent mp3 player (with SD card slot) that can
do everything you mentioned (cept make phone calls or schedule record)

If your really desperate, the Nokia N-Gage (the original version, not
the QD) has 2 tiny (maybe 2.5mm i think) plugs, one for sound, the
other for microphone - you MIGHT be able to get an adaptor and use your
own headphones with that but i'm not sure - try searching around or
asking in the n-gage forums online.

The reason why no phones support this is that your own headphones can't
be a microphone as well so they have to supply a stereo headset.

As for wide range yes there are tonnes - go look at somewhere like
www.imobile.com.au - phones like the Nokia 3230 or 6260 do everything
you said (cept headphones) and with the right symbian app, MAY be able
to schedule a recording but i'm not sure about this.

For all the other features (minus headphones or recording) sony
erricsson W800i or the K750i have a lot going for them - i'd take a
look at the reviews of these when they come out.

Poor volume on the 6230? You must be either deaf or have a dud phone, I
can't tolerate mine being above 3/10 without my ears hurting! The tinny
quality I fixed quite a bit by having the lower two equaliser bars
cranked right up and the remaining three in the middle. Agreed on the FM
radio part though, the only time the reception doesn't seem to break
up is in open areas (such as walking along a bike track), even in inner
Brisbane it breaks up in any moving object (bus, train etc)
