J2ME chat software

I have downloaded numerous applications that claim to be able work for
ICQ, MSN, Yahoo etc. and I am yet to actually find one that will work on
my Series 40 Nokia 7205i

Can anyone please point me into a direction of one that will work?

Thats because of the snide remarks you made about
mobile phones being completely useless, fuckwit.

You must be confusing me with someone else Rod, I have NEVER said that
they are completely useless!

Jimm works fine for me for ICQ - your problem with all these apps not
working could be in the settings of your phone/your provider, so:

* Make sure your on a post-paid plan - no prepaids support applications
having direct IP access
* Make sure you have the correct settings from your provider, and that
WAP & MMS work fine
* Check the settings in your applications menu on the phone, and make
sure the default connection to use is the one for your provider (should
be telstra internet, yes optus internet or voda au internet for
example)
* If all else fails ring your provider and ask for internet settings to
be sent again - tell them you want to use a java application on your
phone that requires a net connection but it doesn't work - if you get
someone clueless (likely) ask to be put through to their data or
wireless data department.

Hope that helps! Good Luck.
Jason

Thanks Jason, I can surf WAP sites from all over the world. I download
Java Apps with no problems. Run several that request data like weather
maps with no problems, just can't seem to get any IM apps to work.

Maybe it is that I am using Voda pre-paid, strange that everything else
on WAP works OK.

I will give Vodafone Data support a call.

Re: J2ME chat software

ok then in case have you tried Jimm - that works fine for me on voda no
problem, but i'm on post-paid.

And i'm also using a sony erricsson for my voda sim - might give my
6230 a go tonight & let u know.

Remember IM apps (mostly) are not using HTTP or WAP protocols to
connect they are connecting directly with their own protocol - this
maybe causing a problem? I'd still be making sure the app is set to
connect via Voda Internet and NOT vodafone live

Looks like it might be time to upgrade to a new phone, Jimm will not
work on a Nokia 7250i because it has too little RAM. :(
