Telstra money grab?

When I activated my Telstra pre-paid it would ring five times and then
divert to message bank. My g/friend told me that I could ring Telstra
and get it changed. OK - did that - fixed it, got eleven rings.
When I changed to pre-paid plus it reverted to five rings. Bastards.
Rang up, bitched and got it changed.
When I went to post-paid - lo and behold - reverted to five rings.
Double bastards.
Rang up, bitched a whole lot more [not at operator], got it fixed and
$40 credit.
I wonder how many people don't know about the longer ring time?
With the multi charges for using/accessing message bank they are on a
definite winner.
Hope this hasn't been through the mill before.

You are correct, they are money grabbers. Despite all promises that
migrations from TPP to TPP+ would be seamless and not affect any existing
settings/diversiond, it appears that Mikey's mate (KEN?) at Telstra is an
incompetent buffoon and not even capable of the most simple tasks.

ring settings cannot be preserved when doing post=>pre and vice versa as it
is essentially a new connection with same mailbox

Hey, I was not the one who made the claim in correspondence to all customers
that "no diversions or settings eill be changed". Telstra, yet again making
promises that cannot be kept.

Hey! How about Telstra making the longer ring time the default instead
of the short 'message bank hustle' ring time? Too simple? Affect the
bottom line/sale price?

15 seconds is perfect, 30 secs is way too long, people hang up and you dont
get your messages.

Its probably your phone that is an issue as well, if your phones ring tone
doesnt have ring sound at the very beginning, you get less rings.

In the network it is 15 secs, the number of rings you get on your phone is
phone dependant and ring tone dependant

It does if you call customer "service" to do it.

Has to cover the cost of out-sourcing to India. Don't you enjoy stuffing
your phone with raw prawns? 8-)

Telstra is a great Australian company. Not like that Pommy Vodafone or
Ching-Chong Optus.

If you want your kids to have a job, you'll support Australian Telstra.

Its a dud.

Plenty of jobs outside Telstra, stupid.

And it remains to be seen how many locals they are stupid enough
to bother employing once they are fully privatised anyway.

No, first all of the staff have to be moved into a JV/subsidiary, then
the JV/subsidiary needs to be sold and only THEN will the call centres move.
