HDMI/DVI vs Component (YUV/RGB)

Can people please tell me from their experience what works better?
I would particularly like to hear from people with a range of equipment (source and display).

I've just purchased a Plamsa, and though its resolution is 852/480 I think digital would have its benefits. I also have a HD15-DSub input, if that will make a big difference...

I don't want to spend much, but am interested in what others have experienced. In your replies, please list what equipment you've used (source and display).

I find my LG HD box works far better with DVI than component if that
helps...im running a sony projector.

It's all relative.

DVI can look better, and component can also look beter.

I think it all depends upon the quality of the internal circuitry,
scalers, etc.

Look at the Sony Grand Wega RPTV, no HDMI or DVI just component, and
produces a stunning picture.

Sharp LC37GA4X 37 inch LCD TV (1366x768) connected to LG LST-5100P HD STB.
Have connected via DVI and component and I can't tell the difference.
Settled on DVI, but only cause I bought the cable to see if there was any
difference...

Just a tip, if buying the LG STB, it comes with a component cable, so try it
first before buying more expensive component cable or DVI.

The LG boxes are great boxes, the 5100s got a very nice picture,
reasonably fast channel, and so far I feel is far more reliable than
the HDS25 Toshiba box.

As for cable, I havent yet seen a convincing difference between
component & DVI, although I know on paper DVI superior.

Unlike monster cable vs normal cable. I have yet struggled to see any
difference, the only difference I saw was a split screen sharp lcd
running $100 monster and cheap & nasty composite. Running ordinarycable
and monster, well I haven't seen a difference hence why I sell very
little of it well I prefer to sell the THX entry level cable as I dont
believe MV2, MV3 or Ultra are worth the money. Sure you might be able
to measure the differences on an oscillocope, but I and so far no one I
know has honestly said they can see a real difference.

Monster is pushed simply because of its high margins, hence why shops
love selling it. Some store pay expenses, like rent, etc just out of
monster profits.

There's far better and cheaper cables, I run 10m of Maxcable component
which I think is fantastic.
