LG 7926W - can't record from DVD to HD

I think there is a fault in my new LG 7926W

According to the manual the DVD menu screen that should display when you hit home proceeds like this:
Home/DVD/TV-HD or Movie/Title screen/Editing screen which includes dubbing

However on all DVDs I've tried there is no title screen menu and no editing or dubbing options offered.

But being a n00b I can't tell if I'm doing something wrong or if in fact there is a fault in the operating system.

As far as I can tell there is no option offered on my machine to copy ANY DVD (including non-copyright disks) to the HD for editing. This can't be right surely???

zarook,

i have the rh 7521w and there is a dubbing button on the remote (under a panel on the front)

for non copy protected dvd's with only one title on the disc i go ;

home/disc/title enter.
when the disc plays i hit the dubbing button.
the disc restarts (you can hit dubbing anytime that you are watching it and it restarts ) and is copied to the hard drive for editing.

hope my machine is similar to yours and you have some luck.

Thanks byron's mate!

I just did a test and it seems that what you suggested is going to work ok for me. My son is watching a copyright DVD right now, but I hit the dubbing button like you said and at least this gave me a message - better than what I've been getting so far. I'll try it later with a non copyright DVD and see how it goes.

That LG manual really sucks imho... There is no way I would have found this without you pointing me in the right direction

Thanks again!

One other question:

Do you know how to add chapters to a file on the HD with LG recorders? Is it possible? Or is this done when you burn to DVD?
