CRU Promotions

Has anyone had any dealings with CRU Promotions in Queensland?

My Mother received a phone call from one of their sales people on
Saturday, the young girl managed to talk her into a 24 month contract
with SIMplus (Optarse) iWant 29 and unknown phone.

She received a package on Tuesday via courier service and I managed to
get hold of it after she opened it, it contained all the bullshit in it
along with a SIM card and forms to fill out, still no mention in any of
the documentation of what phone she would receive. So I managed to
convince her to ring back and cancel the contract.

The documentation stated that she had to contact a manager and be given
a rescind number to send the package back by registered mail (at her
expense!). The Indian call taker wasn't very happy and started hassling
her into keeping the contract and started arguing with her, I picked up
another phone and she must have heard the click because she seemed to
back right off and give her the rescind number before I had a chance to
blast her (worst luck, but then my Mother would have got stuck into me!
HA HA)

Google shows http://www.cru.com.au/ and the About Us page is very
informative!
About Us.

CRU Promotions is a family owned and operated business in Brisbane, QLD.

I don't like the idea of these idiots talking shit to get unsuspecting
people to sign up for products that will NOT suit them and lock them
into two year contracts and then hound them if they try to cancel within
the cooling off period!

Agreed, but not unlike any other dodgy sales practices really.

Re: CRU Promotions

That's just a registered business name, not a company.

The principals behind the name, assuming they're dodgy, would have their
tracks well covered.

CRU Promotions is a Telecommunications Provider and has been in operation since 1996 with approx 40000 customers obtained since that time. The Parent company is Mellick Enterprises Pty Ltd.
They have approx 50 staff employed and choose Tele Consultants to Promote their Products and services across
Mortgage Products
Telco Products (Premium SimPlus dealer)

Their marketing approach is simple

1. They call a approved Call database and offer a general offer.
2. If there is interest, they then explain the offers in complete detail.
3. Then they fill in a application form with ID requirements.
4. Then the customer is explained a detailed checklist, which the customer must understand and accept
5. They then get another agent to call back the customer to do a verification of details. and ask permission to do a verbal contract. which consists of complete Terms and conditions. and offered a 10 day cooling poff period.
6. Then the customer is passed to Baycorp advantage for credit assessment approval.
7. Then the customer is sent the sim card and all Terms and conditions. with a big bold "Read This and understand everything cover sheet" T & C's also include a cancelation request form.
8. The customer is called approxed 10 later to activate their service.
9. They are then express posted their Phone, Holiday, (Other gifts etc) DVD player, Mp3 Player, Xbox, Playstation 2 etc. Their Sim Card is activated.
10. Deal is finalised at this point. and 24 mth contract is started.
11. At any time during this point the customer can cancel and return their product and services due to 10 day cooling off period by returning the completed cancelation form.
The company will then ring the customer at this point to find out the problems and resell the deal usually offering different options at this point.

There is nothing other than the highest standards during this process. However some customers do change their minds during this time.

My advice is If you dont think about it and make a justafied decision, You shgould not purchase anything ever on direct marketing. Go to a shop and buy, this also will stop other family members getting involved and misrepresenting what happened.

Deals offered are usually have extra bonuses than retail. Instead of phone on a plan. The customer will walk away with Phone, Free fuel vouchers, Holiday, (Other gifts etc) DVD player, Mp3 Player, Xbox, Playstation 2 etc.

If you are going to post a forum, you should get your facts straight.

CRU always does their marketing at the highest standard with the customers rights at heart.
