Audio DVD's - DVDA?
At the risk of sounding like an idiot is there any way of finding out if my dvd player will play audio dvd's? Other than looking in the manual? I can't see anything in mine referring to audio dvd's,but then it said i could only play region 4 discs but thanks to this forum, a few weeks I managed to get a hack code so i can play all region codes now![]() My dvd player is AWA brand model wl2051. Here's hoping there's a way of finding out and/or doing something that enables playing of audio dvd's. Thanks ![]() |

DVDA - does my DVD player play it?
Are you refering to SACD style DVD's?
Any DVD can play a music DVD (just normal DVD), where as Not all CD/DVD players can play SACD's (special format with more inforamtion). Is it just a Bands DVD?

DVD-A is most certainly a different format to SACD. A comparison of sound quality can be found here:
http://sound.westhost.com/cd-sacd-dvda.htm As for whether your player supports it - I can't find any information specific to that player and DVD-A I'm afraid. But if it doesn't specify it in the manual then it's probably safe to assume there is no support for it. |

You need a fairly good system and good setup to hear the difference in sound quality the dvd-audio format provides. Until recently you wouldn't be able to get a dvd player that supports dvd-audio for less than $1000, however since Pioneer released the DV-676a which is now replaced by the DV686a for about $200, alot of other brands are supporting low cost dvd players supporting dvd-audio and its competitor SACD. However these low cost dvd players dont play SACd and Dvd-audio to their potential. I would just by the CD of what ever you are after, or buy the mp3 of the internet if your dvd player supports mp3. |

DVD-AUDIO, is a higer bit rate (48/192) than(normal 24/96 ) and plays in stereo, not 5.1 and needs an AMP,and player to decode the higher signal, most DVD players will do this. But check the manual.
