Sign of the times for Telstra

7.00pm Thursday late night shopping at Broadway Centre Sydney

Vodafone Store - 2 clients signing up to new plans, 2 others browsing the
store

Optus World - About 6 people browsing

Orange/Three - Couple of people buying Orange prepaid packs

Telstra "Licensed" Shop : Nobody (apart from the very stressed looking
franchisee with hair falling out)

And where do you fit into the scheme of things? Your shop, no one, which
gives you the time to spy on everyone else.

My example. Me, this afternoon, at Toowong Village Brisbane shopping
for a Motorola V3.

Telstra shop - $729, but might be able to a bit better.
Me - Sounds expensive. I've seen them advertised for around $500
Telstra shop - Must be very old stock, without camera and other
features.
I was the only customer.

Fone Zone - $929, but tell us what the best price you get is and we
might be able to do a bit better.
One other customer in store.

Vodafone Shop - $485 for the brand spanker black version.
Me - sold.
Had to wait several minutes to get served, as the staff has customers
everywhere. No wonder why!

Perhaps the Telstra customers are so happy with their service there is no
need to browse elsewhere...

Without camera???????????????

Was that a deliberate lie or was the V3 ever released in a no camera model?

I'd never heard of a V3 without a camera, and took his comments with a
grain of salt. He seemed to know his product failry well, so it does
sound a lot like it was an atempt at keeping me away from the
compettion. Didn't work though!

And of course, the best thing about buying a new toy is then buying
all the new matching gadgets to go with it. I could get very addicted
to this bluetooth caper.

Me - Black V3 with BT headset, PHF, data cable, software (what a piece of
crap this is...), leather case etc - Free on Optus Business One $45 plan.

I had actually ordered the 'phone only' package (phone and charger only),
but they delivered the full kit and I was not charged for it
