Any chance of a clearer idea of what you are trying to do? (in plain English) it's a bit hard to understand in abbreviated format. If you can be more specific I might be able to point you in the right direction.

Yeah I got that much, do you have a TV that can display NTSC correctly, be more specific about the black and white lines you mentioned.

Exclamation re dvd recorder

yes if you run the vhs player straight to the tv it plays NTSC & pal really good
but as soon as you plug the vhs player into the dvd recorder then run your recorder to the tv with a NTSC TAPE playing the picture goes b/w and colour
bleeds though it,i dont think it is a macrovision problem more of the recorder
not letting the NTSC signal play. thats were the problem is..there might be a code/hack something that will let it play so i can record it ..........cheers....

The device I mentioned removes Macrovision and also can convert NTSC to PAL, if it still doesn't work then it sounds as though something else is causing your problem

That device doesn't convert just accepts Pal/Ntsc.But a great device a must if your into dubbing. When you play an NTSC dvd in your recorder does it play back OK on your TV?
With Panasonic recorders you can record NTSC sources but the dvd is in the Ntsc format.
LG is crap, better if it remained as Goldstar then you would not have purchased it.

It does convert actually, they list the same item twice in their catalogue, once for the Macrovision feature (video stabiliser) and once as an NTSC/PAL convertor, it seems they discovered after they started selling them that they did actually convert the signal. I have one and it does work correctly, it might be something else that is causing the problem in this case, I have a LiteOn LVW5045 which can record PAL or NTSC, also macro free so recording just about anything is possible.

I use one of these http://www.liteonit.com/DC/english/l...5/lvw_5045.htm definately can do what you want, region free and macro free available, currently sells for $499, getting a macro free recorder can be a challenge, may be something else available, none other that I know of though.

The 5045 can definately do it, it can record in NTSC just by changing the video outout to NTSC, Macro is easily removed with a modded firmware, region free is a few remote presses away, $499 is current sale price at Strathfield stores, other retailers sell them also but I don't know of anyone that has them on this cheap, good price for a 160gb recorder.
