Optus Have Sucked Me Into Spending Above My Cap. Help Appreciated.

Hi folks.

I have the Optus $49 Cap that includes $230 worth of calls. I receive
a montly bill.

I rang Optus to ask how to find out how much I have already spent on
calls. They said that they DEFINATELY don't have that service (& told
me it is called live billing). But today I saw that my friend has
Optus' Prepaid Turbocharge plan & is able to call a number to find out
how much credit she has.

I'm really upset that Optus told me the wrong thing. Is the number to
check the amount of credit for prepaid accounts only?

Is it possible to put a limit on my monthly bill so that I can only
spend a certain amount. I've spent above my cap on my last couple
bills.

With my $49 cap Optus actually charge me in advance so maybe I should
go on a Prepaid Turbocharge plan anyway. To recharge do you have to
physically walk into a store & pay somewhere or can you make a
transaction with your mobile somehow?

Should I switch to Vodafone. Do they have a simpler system?

Thanx 4 looking.

Re: Optus Have Sucked Me Into Spending Above My Cap. Help Appreciated.

Welcome to Optus's 1992 billing system, they support no form of live billing
on postpaid at all, if you connect on the 1st of the month, you are going to
get your first bill 36 days later, the month plus 5-6 days for there hick
system to calculate your bill. Do yourself a favour and churn to Vodafone,
they have a live billing system that lags by 24/48 hours and you can free
sms 1555/129000 and get your balance, dial 1555 and your balance and view
all your calls on the website. The $49 cap is only available on prepaid on
vodafone though (which has live billing, you dial 1512 to check your balance
in realtime) and recharge on a monthly basis, but you can log in to the
website and tell it to auto recharge monthly by credit card. Vodafone
includes a lot more things on there caps then optus e.g Calls to
1300/13/1800 numbers, GPRS, content purchase on prepaid..

optus turbocharge seems better then their postpay plans, you can get
$250 credit for $50 or $120 credit for 30.

with real time billing, and also there are no other charges which i
think there are with the caps which dont include certain phone calls or
gprs...

Thanx 4 the replys guys. I think I will jump 2 Vodafone. If I'm not
happy I can always jump back.

If I go from optus postpaid to prepaid can I keep my current Optus
mobile number?
If I go to Vodafone prepaid can I keep my current Optus mobile number?

Yes, that's what MNP is all about.

Yes, that's what MNP is all about.

No it isnt, that's internal to the telco and MNP is irrelevant to that.

Tho you can certainly switch away from Optarse and then back again.

Before MNP was mandated, telcos could play games like this to pressure customers
into not changing from pre to post or vice versa. Tel$tra (shops) certainly
did. After MNP, they can't.

That's why they don't get to play those silly games any more.

Wrong, MNP has nothing to do with what the telcos
can do with numbers within their operation.

That only works for customers who know they can do that
and who are prepare to wear the cost of going that route.

That reminds me of a children's dancing song.

I think it was called Ring Around the Rosie.

Wasn't it called "Ring-a ring-a rosie"?

And that was hardly a "children's" song.

The picture doesn't work.

And I doubt the song is still protected by copyright. It's rather old, you
see.

Better hurry i am going to copyright it tomorrow morning.

My great great uncle on my mothers side made up the song when his 13yo
girlfriend died of the black plague.

He used to tell my Grand mother that Rosie had the sniffles from the
posie in her pocket and they all made a chain around her and started
dancing. They didn't realise she had the black death and they all got
it, they all started sneezing and one by one fell down dead.

Sad story really
