Nokia 6610 won't switch on after using cracked software.

My mate was backing up his Nokia phone (not sure of the model) using a
program I have never seen. I asked if he could back up my phone also
in case it ever gets lost.

When he did it the computer said the connection 2 my phone is lost.
The phone was now switched off. I tried 2 turn the phone on but all I
got was a blank blue/grey screen for a second. The phone appeared 2
have switched back off but I think it was still on because I only get
the blue/grey screen every second time I press the power button.

The software is called Oxygen Phone Manager (I think) & it turns out it
is cracked somehow.

What I am concerned with is the phone. Can I take this somewhere 2 get
repaired or is has it become a worthless projectile?

Thanx 4 looking.

I would first try taking the SIM card and battery out and see if that
resolves the problem, otherwise you may have to take it to a Nokia Care
Centre.

I suppose that is the risk you take with pirated software although it
might have been dodgey cable too.

The original software can be found at http://www.opm-2.com/
Maybe they can help you, but without a registered copy of the software I
don't like your chances.

Basically OPM2 Cracked version can nuke your phone. The only way to get
it fixed, is to get it reflashed at the Nokia Care centre, you will
lose all data on the phone unfortunatly.
I hope you did a backup of the phone's data.

Thanx 4 the replies guys.

I checked out the offical forum & U R correct. I am not the only
person with this problem.

As for backing up the data, that's what got me in trouble in the first
place!

Any idea how much it will cost 2 get the phone "reflashed"? Maybe it
will B more cost effective 2 buy another phone?

If the phone is less than 12 months old then it should be covered by
warranty and if that's the case will be free. If you do take it in to a
Nokia Care Centre then just plead ignorance and tell them the phone
doesn't work.

Re: Nokia 6610 won't switch on after using cracked software.

It would roughly cost about $40 to have the internal hardware reflashed.
Good luck finding a nokia repair centre close by
