When I play movies I only get the backing soundtrack but no dialogue. If I play music, docos etc I don't get this problem. I assume it's to do with stereo recording or the like. Manual no help and on screen functions don't seem much use either. It's probably easy, but it's defeated me!

Either you have discs with two soundtracks and you have the wrong one selected (the audio button on the remote usually allows you to switch between tracks) the likelyhood that all the discs you have tried being like this though is very remote, more likely is that you have the player in 5.1 mode but are only using the two channel output in which case you can look at the settings in your setup menu. If you still can't work it out post back with what equipment you actually have, make and model number etc and how you have it connected.

Sounds very much like a 2 channel amp plugged into surround left and surround right outputs (like jok11n said).

Thanks, it was set in 5.1 mode and not 2 channel as jok11n and andw suggested.

Thanks again!
