Unhappy Affordable DVD Player which is good with CD music also

I am looking for an affordable DVD player which can also double as a decent cd player.

The DVD player should be able to play scratched, damaged, poorly burnt media of a variety ie DVD+R, -R, +RW, -RW etc.

Any Suggestions ?

Will I be better off buying just a Conia/Tedelex/Sonic sort of cheap DVD player and go for a brand name CD player ?

I am going MAD trying to figure out what to do. my budget is around $500-600 all up (incl CD player, or a good DVD player which is a good cd player as well)

my setup

Denon DVR-3800 amp
KEF Coda 7 speakers
JBL sub
JAMO centre
Yamaha rear
Toshiba SD-6200 DVD player (would not play scratched, poorly made dvd)

As your budget allows it have a look at the Z500, $529 and worth every cent. www.z500series.com

Question Zensonic Z500 - how good it is as a cd player

Had a loot at reviews & zensonic forums. Looks pretty impressive, atleast on paper. Has some body actually used it ?

With all the web posts re clock jitters, and how cheap players have poor image & audio quality due to clock not being very accurate - how does Z500 and it's ilk rate ?

Most resellers are online, the only large retailer that has this product is Strathfield, they will have them in the next few days, stock is very limited though if you want one you need to contact the store and ask for one and they can request an allocation.

Rang Strathfield Bankstown - first said they do not sell Zensonic, then said "AAAH, the netword one !!", yeah, maybe some time next month" - gee, product knowledge does not seem to be their Forte, eh ?

Bye the way, how are these boxes for playing CD music - say compared to a $500 Cambridge Audio Azur or Denon cd player ?

They will have them early next week, it's in Fridays catalogue, but is running a few days late so that a new firmware could be installed prior to shipping.
