I have a collection of scratched & badly manufactured DVDs that wont play well on any of my DVD Players.
Some skip and some wont play at all. I want to purchase a new player that handles them well. No need for any fancy features, as long as it plays everything that I throw at it: Rewritable and DVD +/- and defective discs and so on. What player should I choose? |

Best option is to find a few players you like the look of, round up a collection of the worst quality DVD's you've got and test them out at the store. Playing bad DVD's can usually be a hit and miss affair with players I've found.
If the store won't let you try them out, they're not worth buying off. ![]() |

Perhaps you should invest in disc repair kit instead.

your local rental shop can clean them for a small fee, otherwise the cheapest dvd players seem to play almost anything.
I hear the new LG player handles most disks OK

DVD Player that works with scratched DVDs
I have tried the scratch repair kits already in the past with limited success.
I have also some burnt media DVD+R from different manufacturers and again some play, some dont. What is the new LG player called? Are cheaper players really skipping less than more expensive ones? |

If you have repaired the discs and they are still a problem then don't get upset when a new player still has issues playing the discs, are these all bought discs or is a problem with burnt media also? However it could be that your current player is not so good at reading through errors or the drive is on the way out, in which case a new player might do the trick. If you look at an Mpeg4 player they normally handle a wider range of media and read problem discs better than a regular DVD player, decent ones are available below $100

DVD Player that works with scratched DVDs
Thanks for the Infos
I will try to get my hands on the LG 8900 player if I can find one. Just for interest sake, would a DVD recorder handle problematic discs even better? |
