Exclamation Help: AWA DVD Recorder W530T

Have just bought this DVD recorder & it won't record on any recordable discs I put it in it. I have tried a TDK DVD-RW Data/Video 4.7GB 4x and a TDK DVD-R 4.7GB 1-16x and I just get "record failed. Wrong format for re-write."

The instructions say something about new DVDs needing a few minutes to format before recording, but gives me no clue how to do this, if it is not automatic.

Can anyone help?

Most cheap recorders only use +R or +RW media, what does the manual specify as supported media? By the way DVD recorders are generally a bit fussy when it comes to media, TDK is generally a poor choice also (I know that might sound illogical but recent TDK media is problematic for a lot of devices on the market right now)

i have the same recorder, and it only uses +r +rw discs... will play back anything tho, well except multi region discs, still tryin to find a darn code to fix that tho.... so that fixers your problems, have fun with it... if it ever hangs up, you need to unplug/replug it in tho.... happens semi frequently

Afraid I cannot help much as I have just purchased from Discount Outlet $199, have I been caught?
My main problem is that as is usual from Discount Outlets the Instruction Manual has been copied, sort of. A number of pages are unreadable. Could anyone by one means or another supply me with a copy that does not require a forensic lab to make it readable.
