region free dvds and a cheap dvd player
I recently bought a set of region free dvds. Since they're region free I figured they would play in my cheap DVD player. (its called: Classic, DVD40S dvd player, if that helps).
Anyway, to make a long story short, each dvd has around 8 or 9 episodes on it. The first four episodes played perfectly fine. When it got a little over half-way through the 5th episode however, the screen paused then went black, and I could hear the dvd just spinning in the player, like it couldnt find where it was to continue. I tried the second dvd in it as well, and the dvd player does the same thing about halfway through the 5th episode on that dvd. Can anyone tell me whats going on? And is this just a problem with the dvd player? Thanks. |

Sounds like a dodgy dvd...not the player

Hi, It sounds like it's the DVD itself. If it's pirated you will have problems when they jammed 26 episodes into 3 DVDs. Have you tried cleaning the laser with a DVD laser cleaner? Do you have problems with other DVDs? ![]() |

So called 'Region 0' discs are often a problem like this, I would suspect that the player is not at fault in this case.

I assume from the "each disc has 8 or 9 episodes" that this is a tv show.
Someone might like to correct me on this, but I don't think you find too many tv show releases that are region free. Hence, possible problem with copied discs. ![]()
