Datacasting in Sydney now available

Not sure about elsewhere but if you're in Sydney do a rescan and see
datacasting on UHF 35, 578.500 MHz.

41 News, Sport, Weather
45 Service NSW (Traffic, Surf, Event info)
48 TAB
49 EXPO - The world channel

also radio channels of government parliamentary stuff on 401, 402, 403

Is this a test or will it stick around?

Sorry I don't know, they're just there. If they're a test, they can only get
better from here.

No luck with the re scan:(.. I know my signal comes form the Élan.. could
that be the reason I don't get these new channels?

The transmissions are tests licensed to Broadcast Australia
(http://www.broadcastaustralia.com.au) using a transmitter licence
issued by the ACA (see
http://www.aca.gov.au/pls/radcom/lic...NCE_NO=1158647).
The current licence expires on 11/10/2004.

The datacasting licences are issued by the ABA (See
http://www.aba.gov.au/tv/licensing/d..._licensees.htm
for the datacast)

There was an article in yesterdays SMH about a related Broadcast
Australia proposal also being
tested.(http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/...962733599.html)

Looks to be coming from (possibly) Gore Hill, maybe the Dpanda card has a
more sensitive tuner than your STB? Have you a UHF aerial poointing in that
direction?

Thanks for the info. I haven't done a rescan since I got the STB about 2
months ago. I've just done this and can see all of the channels mentioned.
I look forward with excitement to the new year when I can hear parliment
LIVE! :-)

Yep, did the re scan and receive the new channels. Geez I am pretty excited

I know... as Vince Martin would say "staggering stuff, huh".

Still, it's probably only the testing stage, and things can only get better.

Re: Datacasting in Sydney now available

Yep, got them all with new scan (Sydney, eastern suburbs)

I assume that this is not a community service, so they'll want to make a
dollar or two out of it. Does this mean washing powder ads amidst the news
tickers ? " Saddam captured. Get whiter whites with Omo. Saddam captured..."
