XMS-888 Website / Firmware

For those who haven't the time / patience to go through 50+ pages of the XMS-888 Firmware thread looking for this information...

www.xms888.tk has photos, tips and tricks on the XMS-888 player
ftp://ftp.jokiin.com has official firmware updates.

The website may want to be updated with the "M2V" file extension added to the list. I played a M2V file from start to finish.

Thanks Robbiee, I'll add it.
(before I do, Did you need to change the file extension or anything, or did it just play with no changes?)

Hi Guys,
I have downloaded and burnt the Firmware update 1.2, however, I have misplaced my XMS-888 instruction manual, and I can't remember the process to update the Firmware.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

My way (as I want to be sure that it is fresh to start with)
1. Eject the disc tray (take out any other disc that might be there)
2. Put the disc (with the firmware on it) on the tray, but don't push it in
3. Turn off the player for 10 seconds
4. Turn the player on, it will suck the disc in (if not, press open/close to suck it in)
5. It will - read the disc, erase the old firmware, write the new firmware
6. Player will then put itself into standby.
7. Power the player off, wait 10 seconds
8. Power the player back on.
9. IMMEDIATELY start pressing the eject (open / close) button to get the disc out fast, before it starts erasing and writing again.
10. (If your not quick enough, and it starts again, let steps 5 onwards complete again. - DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TURN OFF THE PLAYER WHILE IT IS ERASING OR WRITING THE FIRMWARE)

Thanks heaps for that Andw,
I had turned the place upside down looking for the manual.
I was just thinking, as time goes by and others may misplace the manual as well, would it be possible to put the manual on the web site as well.

Good idea, I've added it under the Firmware page section.
(thanks jok11n for the burning instructions and pdf)

Well, I have quite a few of these files (.m2v extension) and am unable to get them to play. Perhaps u could provide more detail on what u did to get them to play, ie media type used (DVD-R, DVD+R, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-RW, DVD+RW etc), firmware version, player settings, burn settings etc.

regards,
Br@yza!

I met with the factory owner last week and now know what the holdup has been (long story and I won't go into it here) but basically the maker of the 888 is now owned by a larger company, I have contact details for the new person responsible and I will follow up with them when I return to Australia next week. This doesn't mean that it will be resolved straight away, but at least now I have the correct contact details to follow it up without my requests getting passed along through multiple people, if at all.

Thumbs up

Thought I would mention I burned a 352x240 NTSC KVCD file as a non-standard VCD (with Nero) and the XMS 888 had no problems with it.

It's not bad news, there is an existing relationship with the larger factory which is ongoing, they had just not mentioned previously that they had aquired the other factory
