DivX player reviews

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where people could post links to reviews on DivX players available around the world, so we can see what else is out there...
I'll start the ball rolling with a translated French site for the DVD/Divx Elyxio 3202S http://translate.google.com/translat...8%26oe%3Dutf-8
(ESS based)

NeuNeo MPEG-4 player (this is the best I can find on this one, it's the manufacturers FAQ, not a true review by an independent reviewer)
http://www.neodigits.com/shtmls/divxdvd/faq.shtml
(MTK1389 based)
ed: fixed up chipset base

Looks like the ESS players are giving fairly similar results also, it would be nice to know how they deal with widescreen, I didn't see it mentioned in any of the tests.

I'm still of the opinion that ESS needs to rewrite the base code to sort it out.
From forums from these types of players (ESS), it would appear that they all have similar issues. It's time that the manufacturing plants started hammering at ESS for a fix.

Agreed about the re write but I think they are more likely to put the effort into the new chipset rather than re engineering this one, there may be some things that the this chipset is not capable of, most likely the improvements will end up in the second generation chip, especially as other manufacturers start to come on board.

I finally got my hands back on the new model player again and it looks to be based on a totally different chipset again, I'm still waiting for confirmation on that. At least I'll have a chance to do some back to back comparisons now.

I've had the cover off already, I haven't seen this one before. I might do a bit of googling later on the various numbers on the chips and see what turns up (some of the chips have stickers over them, just to frustrate me I think). I've also emailed the distributor and asked them, still waiting on an answer.

Just found out the chipset is the MTK1389 which is the same as the one in the new NuoNeo player.

not sure yet but I will let you know soon, I've got a DVD recorder that I have to test tonight but I'll see if I can spend some time going through it. I know the zoom is good, it does plus 4 all the way to minus 4 times zoom, not bad.
