Error: C00D11CD

I am trying to play a .avi file but continue to get the following error code: Error: C00D11CD. It may just be a simple thing to correct but i am fairly computer illiterate.....

Any suggestions as to what Codec i might need to download to fix it?

Help would be much appreciated.

I've tried playing it in DivX, and it starts but then just cuts out after a few seconds. Still confused as to what i should do.

How sure are you that the file is not corrupt? can you play it successfully on any other PC?

Haven't tested it myself, although I highly doubt the file is corrupt because I have friends who have used it.
