what are available now ? DIVX players ( Jokn)

Gather the choice is still between the trio and xms.
From my experience the xms plays everthing I can throw at it and then some. Very happy with the unit....but I have a niggly problem with coax out at the moment.
Thinking of getting another for the in-laws for birthday pressie so its either the xms of wait to see what is coming out in the next 10 days...
Support for the xms was great but seems to have stalled?
Any help Jokn

I don't think that the xms support has stalled I think more to the point is that an interim update was given and with the continual development of models that the next firmware will most likely be 'the one' for the current model i'm sure Jokiin is more in tune with what is going on.

The XMS888 seems to be ok but I'm sure that the Trio is more likely the better choice as its hardware is 6 months younger than the XMS888's. Becuase this industry is so dynamic at the moment anything you get is more than likely going to be out of date even as you hook it up for the first time.

Support for a few of the ESS based players is 'stalled', by the looks of it, they are all waiting for ESS to update / revise the base firmware...
Including the Yamada 6100 it would seem (that appears to be at a similar 'base firmware' revision as the xms-888).
Hopefully it's not a matter of it being 'stalled' as such, but that they are working on some major changes.

There are a few more models coming very soon, not sure if it will be within the next 10 days, although I think it will be close to that. So the choices will be greater soon. I have already looked at some of the new ones and codec support is improving with each new one that I have seen so far. The 888 is still waiting on feedback from ESS to get to the manufacturer, they have the samples that were provided but at the moment ESS is the holdup. Support hasn't stalled, just at the moment there is not much info to pass on as I am waiting on others. As soon as I know anything of interest I will post here anyway, so just keep checking back. Also bookmark andw's website www.xms888.tk he has consistantly kept it up to date as news comes to hand, it's perhaps the best place to check for info on the 888 anyway.

DiVX Player coming soon

Have a look at http://www.pcrange.biz/downloads/dvdplayer.htm

They will be available in May at an RRP of $159. Should be available through Eyo as well.

Will keep you all posted.

So what exactly is going on here with these new Divx players
At the most it would take 2 weeks for a container load to make its way from China to Australia and be unpacked ready for sale.

Yet my research shows it will be mid May before these are available here which means they are not yet even ready to be packed or shipped
The threads in here go back a further week or 2 so all up time is around 2 months
WHY?

So is everyone trying to presell to meet the cost or why else the big delay

Ok, some more info on these. A container takes 19 days to get to the port and another week for unloading and delivering and customs clearance. Anyone who has brought in a container will know what I am talking about. It takes 20 days to manufacture the products. Manufacturers dont simply have these at their fingertips to ship everytime an order is placed.

There have been 1000 units ordered and about 480 of them have been pre sold. And no we are not trying to pre sell to meet costs because we dont get paid a cent until the products are shipped to customers here, so that theory of preselling to meet cost doesnt hold up. May 15th is the expected ETA although we expect it in earlier, but I have to give it a reasonable ETA or everyone will be on my back if it doesnt get here on time. So I dont want to give false promises.

Here are few more pictures of the unit.

I don't see the big delay, this thread is less than two weeks old anyway, as chuna points out it doesn't happen in two weeks. If you can go from buy to sell in two weeks, let us know who you are dealing with, they're faster than anyone I've ever seen. Even air frieghting deliveries has never made it that quick and it drives up the cost if you do. All chuna did was point out that he will have a model available in mid May, there are other models out now and there will be more models available before then, at least chuna has taken the time to point out that there will be a new model available at a great price, some people may choose to wait a couple of weeks and save some money. Nothing wrong with that I think, it sure beats the feeling of buying something and then finding out that a newer cheaper unit was due for release. Maybe it would be a good idea to do a bit more research.

Read my "nic"

It means what it says
Shipping is what I do for a crust, and have for a long time,so I probably know more abt that than all of u put together, and yeh I have been to China too (amongst many other places)

Chuna is clearly not taking the full container load as he mentions that his share is 1000 units,so the items is really not a full container load to 1 client which adds quite a number of extra days for the Agent/forwarder here in Aust to unpavk then distribute to all the customers
Im not trying to make an issue of this so as far as Im concerned I raised the matter and its now closed, unless someone wants to continue it.
But if all manufacturers took over 2 months to send everything nothing would move

Im not knocking the product I actually think it shows promise, nor am I knocking Chuna I admire his enterprise in doing this its just I found the time period extraordinary

Take away the k and you have Captain, relate that to a marine environment then freight and you have a captain in the merchant fleet.

Capt is the standard international shortform for Captain....Ship,or a Plane..in my case a ship.
(Hope that explains why I know a bit abt that subject)
The K is just my initial
