XMS 888 noob question

Hi guys i have read many of the posts and have just a couple of questions as i cant seem to find the answers.

From what i can tell you cannot have the dvd player hooked via coaxial output and the analogue outputs and have sound sent to both. ie you have to change the spdif settings to get either one to work. I have coaxial hooked up to my HT amp and the rca analogue hooked up to my TV. Some times i just want to watch with sound coming out of the tv other times i want to use the amp. Can you confirm for me that other then changing the spdif output to on or off there is no way around this. Could this be fixed up in a firmware upgrade?


Also as i have just purchased the player today and it was from a new batch that arrived at brisbane car sound this week is there any way i can tell what firmware is loaded to see if i need to upgrade or not.

If you play a DivX movie and you can not get rid of the clock counter I bet you would have the 1st firmware.

No problem getting rid of the counter. Is this enough to confirm that i have firmware 1.2 installed? And any help with my first question?

you can not use digital and analogue input simultaneously

I believe that this feature is available on some of the later MTK based units

Is this somehting that could be offered in a new firmware release?

With firmware version 1.0 you can not get rid of the clock counter with firmware updates you are able to if yours is able to get rid of the clock counter well it must not have the firmware version 1.0

Wasnt there a 1.1? If this is the case how can i tell if i have 1.1 or 1.2?

I dont for sure but maybe the region change code maybe able to display some info on the version you have, with version 1.1 the version didnt display correctly but with version 1.2 it does.

Follow these instructions to get into the 'hidden' menu.

This not only lets you change the region code if you want, but if you look at the top option in that screen shot, you will see an option that says 'version'.
Only versions 1.2 (and above we hope) show a version number in there (DF002A from memory). All older versions just show 'ver' where the version number should be.

Thanks i went ahead and tried the flash anyway and you are correct before in the ver there was nothing and now df002a is showing up. Thanks for your help.
