xms-888 help

I have installed the 1.2 firmware with great sucess however i have downloaded a movie and tried to play it on the 888 but the player is asking for a QPEL codec. How would one install this codec to make the player play the movie? Any help would be apprecitive. Thanks Paul

The player does not support QPEL codec, check out www.xms888.tk for details of what does and does not work.

So!

It seems to me if I want to play the movie with QPEL codecs,I must buy the $249 player. Is this correct?
Thanks for your time :-)

That's correct for DivX files. None of the standalone players can play XVid files with PRO features enabled as I know.
If player is saying "QPEL is not supported", it doesn't mean that your movie was encoded with QPEL. In fact, all movies with QPEL which I tried just didn't play with no diagnostics. You can check a presence of QPEL encoding in the file using fddshow. Configure fddshow to decode your movie, enable "display frames info" in settings and then play.
As I remember I got "QPEL not supported" message in such cases:
problems with non-correct file header, non-correct audio-video interleaving, low frequences audio.
