xms-888 firmware upgrade

Hi,
just a question. On the site http://www.xms888.tk/ it details the steps to update the firmware to ver 1.2. Steps 9 and 10 concern me. If I don't quickly eject the disc I may erase the ROM permanently. Couldn't you just remove the disk before and do the following steps?

6. Player will then put itself into standby.
7. Eject the disk
8. Power the player off, wait 10 seconds
9. Power the player back on.

Not sure I understand exactly what you mean but the main thing to note is that the player will power down after the firmware upgrade, when you turn the player back on you need to eject the disc straight away, if for whatever reason you don't eject the disc in time and the process starts again just let it run through again, interupting the process will kill the player much like when flashing a computer bios. If you are unsure on this at all ask some more questions before you try it, otherwise you will risk killing the player.

You can't eject the disc before power off (after step 6), as the player has already gone into stanby mode.
