XMS-888 audio issues.

Been a while since I posted, I haven't really checked this forum since I installed firmware 1.2. I have no problems with video on any of the files that I have downloaded, other that minor sync problems which I can live with.

Audio issues still exist with some files though. The problems I have are that there is no audio whatsoever. One file I have, the audio is crackly. These files are all fine on the PC. My questions are:

1. Are any audio issues still being addressed in the development of firmware 1.3?

2. Are there any indications of a possible release date?

3. Could I re-encode these files in a format which I know works ok with the existing firmware?

By the way, in another thread somebody mentioned a weird buzzing noise from one of the motors after the flash. This did not occur with my machine, but I talked a mate into buying one of thes units and I noticed it on his. The flash worked ok, but took some time for the purple welcome screen to load.

1. I believe so
2. Not as yet (a few ESS based players worldwide are waiting on ESS for the next update) - hopefully it won't be too much longer
3. Yes, Use a program like 'VirtualDubMod' to re-encode the audio to 44khz 128bit (constant bit rate (CBR))
If my machine was making a weird buzzing noise, I would take it back, and get a replacement.

version 1.3 is still pending, one of the major delays is due to audio issues that engineers at ESS are still working on using file samples that were sent (mostly provided by EYO forum members) As far as re-encoding goes, andw is perhaps the best one to ask, I think he may have even answered this a few times already if you want to have a bit of a search around.
